Military role questioned

A group of clergy and laity in the diocese of Toronto has written a petition that questions Canada’s military presence in Afghanistan. The group is hoping that Anglicans will discuss the points raised in the petition and, if they agree, sign it and send it to their members of Parliament and to the prime minister.

The document calls for the withdrawal of Canadian forces engaged in combat under U.S. control and calls for prisoners of war to be treated according to the provisions of the Geneva Convention.

The petition was generated by Canon Jack Adam and Rev. Andrew Graham, of St. Columba and All Hallows church in Toronto.
