Lutheran Life Insurance Society of Canada has made a $5,000 grant to assist in the restoration of St. John?s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, N.S.
The church, considered a landmark and key tourist attraction for summer visitors to Lunenburg, a seaport town, was destroyed by fire in November, 2001. The church was founded in 1753 by German and French Protestants and declared a National Historic Site in 1998.
Stephen Taylor, president and chief executive officer of the Lutheran fraternal benefit society, presented the cheque at a luncheon of Lutheran Life?s board of directors, church representatives and local dignitaries, July 26th in Halifax.
Lutheran Life provides Lutherans and Anglicans in Canada with financial protection programs, special member benefits and volunteer opportunities to serve local congregations and communities.
