Archbishop Michael Peers, the primate, in June told the congregation of St. John’s, Lunenburg, N.S., that very few Canadian churches are old enough to celebrate a 250th anniversary and, he joked, it is even rarer still to find one so old still under construction. St. John’s, which was founded in 1753, is being restored after a disastrous fire in 2001. News about the restoration, and information about donations, can be found at www.stjohnsrestoration.com.
