Representatives of the dioceses of Ontario and Rochester, N.Y., met recently in Kingston, Ont., for two days of discussion about developing a companion relationship. Bishops from both dioceses attended, along with clergy and lay people. The meeting developed a statement of goals for the companion relationship, including facilitating congregation-to-congregation relationships and developing common programs of learning, ministry and mission. A second meeting was scheduled for April in Rochester to finalize a covenant between the two dioceses. If the dioceses approve, the companionship would officially begin on June 8, the feast of Pentecost.
