Chaplain recognized

Rev. Capt. Michelle Staples, an Anglican military chaplain, was named alumna of the year by St. Paul University in Ottawa, the first Anglican to be so honoured by the Roman Catholic school. She was cited for her gifts as a theologian, ecumenist, historian and pastor. “Padre Michelle,” as she is known, earned a bachelor’s degree in theology in 1995 and a master’s degree in theology in 1996 at St. Paul. She has also served on the Anglican-Roman Catholic dialogue in Canada, the faith, worship and ministry committee of the Anglican Church of Canada and the General Synod 2004 worship committee. She currently serves as unit chaplain with the Air Force and is stationed at 14 Wing in Greenwood, N.S.
