Where are the young?

Published November 1, 2012

Congratulations on completing the national readership survey. The results reveal a great deal about your readership and about the Anglican Church of Canada.I hope I am not the only one who was worried by the extremely low number of respondents younger than 50 years of age. I’ve been working with youth and young adults for 15 years, and I know the low readership result doesn’t mean that three generations are not interested in our communion. Now that we know how to keep those older than 50 reading the Journal, I am looking forward to hearing what the Journal has in store for the younger generations. I also hope we are paying serious attention to how we communicate our church’s mission to those younger than 50. This is a wonderful opportunity to take on another mission field. The Rev. Dawn Leger
