Staff tell us… Meeting our unsung heroes

Published May 2, 2010

People have often asked me what I enjoy most about writing for the Anglican Journal. In the seven years since I’ve worked here, my answer hasn’t changed. I’m happiest when I’m having conversations with ordinary people. The late Charles Kuralt, an award-winning broadcast journalist, explained why he spent a lifetime writing about people on the backroads of America by saying: “I’ve always wondered where the roads went.” It was on the backroads that Kuralt found the most interesting people. The same has been true for me. The best moments have been meeting unsung heroes of the church, who travel long distances to hold the hand of a person in need.
