Soup kitchen reopens

Published December 1, 2007

St. Saviour’s church in Victoria, diocese of British Columbia, has reopened its Rainbow Kitchen after having closed it for more than a month in the wake of the resignation last September of its rector, Rev. Antonio Osorio, who admitted to sexual misconduct.

The kitchen, which reopened Nov. 1, provides lunch thrice a week to about 800 people, mostly single mothers and their children.

The kitchen was one of many outreach activities initiated by the parish under the leadership of Mr. Osorio. The night shelter for the homeless remains closed.
