The Sorrento Centre in British Columbia has launched a $500,000 campaign to wipe out its accumulated debt. The centre, which registered the highest number of participants this past summer in its 35-year history, is hoping to raise the money by the end of 2000. Archdeacon Robert MacRae of Victoria has been appointed as director of planned giving for the centre. The campaign kicked off with a gift of $100,000 from the Richardson Foundation. There are already pledges for another $40,000. Sorrento executive director Dan Meakes says “Our ministry as a centre is really coming of age. We are ready to embrace the next century.”
