Evelyn Presley, co-ordinator of Ottawa’s diocesan ACW, helps seal one of 115 bales for churches in the North; the bales were valued at $69,000.

Following a long-time tradition, the Anglican Church Women of the diocese of Ottawa recently packed and shipped off 115 bales to nine communities in Canada’s north. The bales, containing new clothing, toys, baby items and yarn, were valued by ACW co-ordinator Evelyn Presley at about $69,000. The items, which were contributed by eastern Ontario churches in Ottawa, Pembroke and Carleton Place, are sold at reasonable prices to members of northern congregations, with proceeds staying in the parishes.
