New writer hired

Published December 1, 2000

Jane Davidson, an author, freelance journalist and communications consultant, has been hired as full-time staff writer for the Anglican Journal. Ms. Davidson is also a former editor of the Toronto Anglican, the newspaper of Toronto diocese.

Her book, entitled A Brutal Way To Learn, is based on the life of Dan Haley, vice-president of the Movement for Canadian Literacy and is, in part, an examination of roadblocks to literacy.

Ms. Davidson has also worked for The Globe and Mail, and contributed to the Toronto Star, the Financial Post of Canada and the Kingston Whig-Standard.

She will succeed Kathy Blair who resigned as staff writer this fall to pursue other career opportunities with Smartrisk, a non-profit organization that researches risks and advises people and organizations on how to deal with them.

Ms. Blair was the Anglican Journal’s full-time staff writer for about three years.
