New president elected

The Canadian Council of Churches has chosen Andre Vallee, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Hearst, in northern Ontario as its new president.

The council’s 46-member governing board elected Bishop Vallee at its May meeting in Edmonton. Bishop Vallee succeeds Barry Curtis, the recently retired Anglican bishop of Calgary and metropolitan of Rupert’s Land.
