Full communion ‘working well’

Both the heads of the Anglican and Lutheran churches in Canada say they oppose an invasion of Iraq and they agree that full communion between the two churches is working well.

Those statements emerged from a public discussion between Archbishop Michael Peers, the Anglican primate, and Bishop Raymond Schultz, national bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. The two met Feb. 7 in Winnipeg to discuss topics of interest to both churches. The discussion, held at the national Lutheran office, was a precursor to the 10th Lutheran World Federation Assembly, scheduled for Winnipeg in July. The two prelates discussed the significance of full communion between the two churches and on the possibility of war in Iraq.
