Fishy circumstances

When debate got hot and heavy, members of General Synod were able to decompress in the “Drawing Room” – an erstwhile coat check closet on the same floor as the plenary hall. There were several small tables bearing containers of crayons and paper was stapled to the walls for drawing. In the early days of Synod, there was also a small bowl that held Gordon, a red-orange fish. Gordon, whose cartoon image became a regular “Where’s Gordon?” feature in the Anglican Journal Daily newspaper, was eventually transferred to the General Synod office for the duration of Synod, as organizers feared for his health; he will live out his days at the synod office of the local diocese of Rupert’s Land.
