Featured letter: While the rich get richer…

Published April 1, 2009

Dear editor,
There are two main reasons why our economy suffers from cycles of boom and bust. These are the obscene income gap and our system of taxation.

The income gap has to be radically reduced. No man is worth 400 times more than another.

Our tax system is built on expediency rather than fairness. Our tax system discriminates against lower incomes, against the people who have the least power to defend themselves. Should this not be a very pressing concern of the church?
