Elder accepted apology

Vi Smith (centre) accepted Michael Peers’ apology.

Vi Smith, a distinguished native elder with the Anglican Council of Indigenous Peoples and member of the Gitksan Nation in Northern British Columbia, has died at 85.

Mrs. Smith attended the National Native Convocation in 1993 where the Primate, Archbishop Michael Peers, apologised for the church’s role in running residential schools. She accepted his apology on behalf of the convocation.
