Dialogue begins

Published March 1, 2004

The diocese of Toronto has begun its year-long process of dialogue and decision among clergy and lay members on the issue of same-sex blessings.

All-day sessions were scheduled at parishes in four regions of the diocese. These will be followed by a special session of synod on Nov.13 at St. James’ Cathedral.

Archbishop Terence Finlay of Toronto said the dialogue is designed to help Anglicans discuss and reflect on the issue before making any decisions. “We, as the people of God, strive to continue in the apostles’ teaching, and are being asked to discern God’s will for God’s church,” said Archbishop Finlay.
