While many businesses are still being bugged by looming computer problems associated with the advent of the year 2000, the Anglican Church pension department has the situation firmly in hand. Pensions Director Jenny Mason says work has been underway for some time to adapt customized church software to cope with the so-called millennium bug. Many computer programs were designed with only two digits to indicate the year – which means that, in 2000, computers will think it is 1900. Ms. Mason said most of the work has been done correcting church house software, and it will be completed for testing well before the year 2000. “It’s not a large problem for us,” she said. The church is also asking its fund managers if their computers are ready for 2000.
