Carriere named acting general secretary

Archbishop Fred Hiltz, primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, has announced the appointment of Vianney (Sam) Carriere, director of communications and information resources, to the position of acting general secretary of General Synod.

Carriere will serve in this capacity until Archdeacon Michael Pollesel returns later this year.

A veteran journalist, Carriere worked for The Globe and Mail for 22 years before joining the Anglican Journal in 1990 as news editor. He was editor of the Journal from 2000 to 2003.

Now, Carriere will be oversee the work of  General Synod and the Council of General Synod (CoGS) as well as day-to-day operations of the national office and all staff. Carriere will also be presenting the work of General Synod to the church’s 30 dioceses and to the general public.   Ω
