London (Church Times)-The late Monica Jones, British poet Philip Larkin’s companion, has left one million pounds to the Church of England, despite the fact that neither she nor Mr. Larkin were known for their religious beliefs. Mr. Larkin, who died in 1985, bequeathed the bulk of his estate to Ms. Jones, his long-time partner. She died last year. Mr. Larkin once said that he was “an agnostic, I suppose, but an Anglican agnostic, of course.”
