Archbishop Terence Finlay has asked Ontario ‘s new Liberal government to act quickly to help alleviate the plight of 390,000 children in poverty, of single-parent families living below the poverty line, and of minimum-wage workers who have not received a raise in eight years. More than 120,000 Ontario children rely on food banks to survive.
“Behind these cold statistics are human lives ? the lives of our youngest citizens, and their frustrated parents,” said Archbishop Finlay in a November letter to Premier Dalton McGuinty.
