London (Church Times) – Roman Catholic Archbishop Pius Ncube of Zimbabwe has criticized the Anglican church in Zimbabwe for not publicly condemning the violence and human-rights abuses perpetrated by President Robert Mugabe’s government. “They have aligned themselves with the forces of evil,” he said, referred to the Anglican church. The Anglican bishop of Harare, Nolbert Konunga, is an advocate of President Mugabe’s policies. However, Archbishop Ncube also had strong words for the Catholic church. “I am also disappointed with the Catholic bishops. We have said too little, too infrequently. Some bishops are far too close to the government,” he said.
