Augsburg Fortress Canada and Four Corners, the alternative trade program of Canadian Lutheran World Relief, have entered into a partnership to provide Canadians with more options for buying fair trade products.

Home decor items, fashion accessories and fair-trade certified goods such as coffee, tea, and chocolate are now available at the Anglican Book Centre in Toronto and the Augsburg Fortress Bookstore in Kitchener, Ont.

“Alternative trade helps artisans, farmers and their families to make a better living by ensuring that they are paid a decent price for their products,” said Augsburg Fortress Canada and Four Corners in a statement.

“This in turn means they are able to purchase more nutritious food, pay their children’s education fees, and more.”

Four Corners said its program aims to create a world “where people live in justice, peace and dignity, united in diversity, and empowered to achieve their universal rights to basic needs and quality of life.”

Augsburg Fortress is the publishing house of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and serves the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, the Anglican Church of Canada, and ecumenical partners.
