First, Canadian Anglicans sang the hymn, “Amazing Grace,” raising $95,000 for a suicide prevention project created by the Council of the North. Now, Canadian Anglicans are being called upon to videotape themselves singing “Silent Night.” Donations will be used to support The Anglican Bishop Ordinary Trust and the work of military chaplains who care for personnel in the Canadian Forces and their families.Anglican Video at General Synod will manage the project again this year. Lisa Barry, senior producer, says Canadian Anglicans are being asked to make Nov. 28-the first Sunday in Advent-Silent Night Sunday. To kick off the project, Anglican Video taped delegates to General Synod 2010 in Halifax singing “Silent Night” last June. Chaplains posted in Afghanistan have also uploaded their video. “It’s a beautiful hymn and it evokes thoughts of peace at a time when we all seek peace,” says Barry.
