Clergy must provide leadership and encouragement to ongoing Christian stewardship or nothing will happen, Archbishop Douglas Hambidge (retired metropolitan of British Columbia and Yukon) told a recent stewardship conference for the diocese of Moosonee’s Cree parishes of the James Bay deanery.
The priest must share “his/her personal understanding and practice of financial stewardship” and challenge parishioners to “re-examine their own,” said Archbishop Hambidge, who was the keynote speaker.
Believers should realize, said the archbishop, that “my life is an offering of faith; I am aware of all God gives me, and I respond with a gift of my faith to God.”
