The Winnipeg-based Centre for Christian Studies said it is officially developing a climate “where it is increasingly possible for people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender to be more open.” At a celebration service on March 26, the centre was recognized as a “proud Anglican institution” by Integrity, a support group for gay Anglicans, and as an “affirming ministry” of the United Church through its support group, Affirm United. The designation grew out of the work of a task group that identified areas where the centre “needs to continue to strive for sexual and gender justice,” according to an announcement. The Centre for Christian Studies is a theological school that offers four-year diplomas and one-year certificates in various forms of ministry.
