Musicians sing songs of faith

Two recent CD releases provide different, yet equally rewarding, approaches to faith.

The venerable Canadian Brass quintet, formed in 1970, brings its joyful, brilliant sound to People of Faith, 12 selections of sacred music that include such sturdy Protestant favourites as O God, our Help in Ages Past and Come, Thou Fount of Ev’ry Blessing. Recorded at the Toronto Anglican church of St. Mary Magdalene, the CD also features the Elmer Iseler Singers and the Bach chorale Sheep May Safely Graze.

Meanwhile, Rev. Glen Soderholm, a singer/songwriter and Presbyterian minister based in the southwestern Ontario town of Rockwood, has released his fourth CD, World Without End. The new recording features six original songs and six hymns that capture the seasons of worship. This “enhanced CD” also contains interactive materials for use on a computer that will help the user employ the songs in worship services.
