The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) said the government of Canada will match, dollar for dollar, donations earmarked for victims of the Burma cyclone and China earthquake disasters. To be eligible for matching funds, donations should be made payable to PWRDF (www.pwrdf.org), designated for Cyclone Nargis or China earthquake and should be made by June 6, 2008.PWRDF is supporting work by Action by Churches Together (ACT) International, an ecumenical relief organization based in Geneva.Despite access and logistical challenges, PWRDF staff report that ACT is providing clean water, emergency food and non-food items to more than 100,000 people in Burma, also known as Myanmar. In China, Amity Foundation, a member of ACT, is providing tarpaulins and quilts to help families protect and shelter themselves from the elements.
