Endowment campaign

The former primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, Michael Peers, his wife, Dorothy, and former United Church of Canada moderator, Marion Pardy, are co-chairing an endowment campaign to raise $1 million to help sustain and expand the theological programs offered by the Centre for Christian Studies (CCS).  

“CCS has long nurtured a vision of a cross-Canada network of people who would be the heart and soul of the school. This vibrant community, which witnesses the Gospel of Jesus Christ, is a reality today,” said its principal, Caryn Douglas. “Students and graduates span the country, providing life-giving and transforming leadership in all kinds of faith communities.”

The campaign, entitled Giving Life … Shaping Justice, will allow the centre to offer more continuing education for lay people, youth workers, priests, pastors and diaconal ministers in areas such as leadership, social justice and spirituality.  

CCS, which is based in Winnipeg, traces its beginnings to the 1890s, when “visionaries with a passion for theological education for women” in the Anglican, Methodist and Presbyterian churches founded three deaconess and missionary training homes in Toronto.
