A former altar boy is suing the Anglican Church of Canada, two of its priests and two parishes for alleged sexual abuse.
Glenn Alan Johnson, now 36 and an editor with a Winnipeg newspaper, filed a statement of claim in early February with the Nova Scotia Supreme Court in Halifax. In it he states that he was sexually assaulted by Wayne Lynch and Michael Boyd between 1977 and 1979.
Mr. Lynch, 49, of Halifax is no longer licensed to function as a priest. He pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting Mr. Johnson last January and is serving a two-year conditional sentence in the community.
Mr. Boyd remains on leave while awaiting trial.
The lawsuit names the two men, the Anglican Church of Canada, the Diocesan Synod of Nova Scotia and the churches the men worked in, All Saints Anglican Church in Brooklyn, Queens County, and Trinity Anglican Church in Digby. No defence has yet been filed.
