Columbus, Ohio The Presbyterian Church (USA) has elected a Palestinian-American pastor and outspoken proponent of non-violence as its new moderator. Meeting in June at its General Assembly, the 2.5-million-member denomination selected Rev. Fahed Abu-Akel of Atlanta to the position. Mr. Abu-Akel grew up in what was then Palestine and is now Israel.
