For Rev. Ronald Fellows, a sabbatical 25 years ago led to dramatic life changes as he discovered new ways of looking at the world.

Mr. Fellows died at the age of 73 on April 26, the result of an accident. His funeral was held in Belleville, Ont., on April 29.

Ordained to the priesthood in the diocese of Huron in 1956, Mr. Fellows began working with the religious education department of General Synod, the national office of the Anglican Church of Canada, in 1967. He worked in the communications department. A sabbatical in 1980 saw him study contemporary spirituality and meditation. In 1984, he resigned from General Synod to become the director of the Applewood Centre for Spiritual Studies, a project he had helped found three years earlier. Applewood, an ecumenical and inter-faith organization, offered conferences and workshops to assist people in spiritual growth. The centre closed in recent years.

Mr. Fellows is survived by his wife, Kathryn, five children and 10 grandchildren.
