Paper may incorporate

The Anglican Journal is moving toward incorporating itself separately from General Synod so it can continue to operate if General Synod goes bankrupt.

General Synod’s officers, its information resources committee (which oversees the Journal) and the editors of Canada’s diocesan newspapers all approved the incorporation, which is expected to be completed this fall.

A separately-incorporated Journal would be owned by General Synod, but could be sold, in the event of bankruptcy, to one of the dioceses or ecclesiastical provinces. Continued operation of the Journal is essential for the diocesan papers, which benefit from the Journal’s postal subsidy and from the Journal’s maintenance of circulation records. Staff
