Graham named Trinity College chancellor

Bill Graham, a former member of Parliament and 1961 graduate of Trinity College at the University of Toronto, was recently named Trinity’s 12th chancellor.

The chancellor is the presiding dignitary at college ceremonies and important meetings; he will be responsible for bringing the college communities together, inspiring students and advising and aiding the provost, noted provost Margaret MacMillan.

Mr. Graham said he would like to play a part in enhancing Trinity’s international relations program. He served as a Liberal MP from 1993 to 2006, serving at various times as minister of foreign affairs, minister of national defence and leader of the official Opposition.

He has practised law in Toronto in the field of international commercial law and has taught law at the University of Toronto. He earned an honours BA in modern history and an LLB degree, both at the University of Toronto, and a doctorate in law at the Universite de Paris.
