London (ENI) – A snapshot of British religious beliefs has found that people attach more importance to having a church funeral than to being married by the church or having their children baptized. Three-quarters of those who died in 2000 had a Christian funeral ceremony, while the proportion of first marriages taking place in church was 54 per cent and only around one-third of children were baptized in their first year.
