What are you doing for lunch on Monday? Fresh Expressions UK, an organization formed to encourage the growth of new, creative kinds worship, is inviting Anglicans everywhere to spend an hour in prayer on Mon. May 28 at 12 noon local time.

“Hopefully, some Canadian Christians will choose to spend their lunch hour praying for the country and for various expressions of God’s love and Jesus’ mission taking place in work places, homes, schools and a thousand other places throughout the land,” says the Rev. Nick Brotherwood, team leader of Fresh Expressions Canada and incumbent at St. Stephen’s Church in Montreal.

Those interested are encouraged to pray alone or with others or to use the group’s online prayer wall on its Facebook page or to Twitter using #285prayer. You can also or download resources  to give you ideas for specific prayer on the day and in the future.

The Fresh Expressions movement began as an initiative of the Archbishop of Canterbury and Archbishop of York in the Church of England with the Methodist Council in 2005. It has resulted in the formation of hundreds of new congregations and new partnerships with other churches. Fresh Expressions organizations have also been established in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand with interest spreading to many other countries.
