Hanna Goschy, who has been serving as General Synod controller since December 2011, has been appointed acting treasurer effective Oct. 1.

Goschy will temporarily fill the position vacated by Michele George, who has resigned.

A certified management accountant, Goschy was previously chief financial officer for YMCA Canada (2000 to 2011). She has also worked as senior accountant for Transamerica Life Canada (1999 to 2000)  and as senior control officer for Manulife Financial (1988 to 1999).

A search committee has been appointed by the primate to fill the position of treasurer and chief financial officer, said an announcement by Archdeacon Michael Thompson, general secretary of the Anglican Church of Canada.

The committee is headed by Rob Dickson, chair of General Synod’s financial management committee, and includes diocese of British Columbia Bishop James Cowan, Monica Patten, Dan Waterston and Thompson.
