Coming up in the October Anglican Journal

Published August 30, 2006

Next month, the Anglican Journal will begin a series that examines rural ministry in the diocese of Saskatoon. The Journal visited parishes in Humboldt, Bjorkdale and Porcupine Plain to meet Anglicans in those regions, which have struggled over the years with declining population and successive farm crises. The series will explore the challenges of ministry in a vast landscape once dotted with family farms and churches that are now only ghosts of the past. It will examine the situation of Anglican farmers, some of them descendants of pioneer homesteaders who came to what they saw as the land of promise a century ago, who feel their stories have not been heard by their fellow faithful. Readers will also meet Anglicans who help spread the Gospel in many creative ways.
