The Supreme Governor of the Church of England, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, celebrates her 90th birthday today; and members of the Anglican Consultative Council took time out of their ACC-16 meeting in Lusaka, Zambia, to send her birthday greetings.

The Communion’s secretary general, Archbishop Josiah Idowu-Fearon, led the tribute from the steps of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, flanked by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, and the chaplain to the UK’s House of Commons, the Revd Rose Hudson-Wilkin..

Archbishop Idowu-Fearon said: “Your majesty, greetings from the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, Lusaka in Zambia where members of the Anglican Consultative Council have been meeting for the past 12 days.

“On behalf of the Anglican Communion worldwide, I would like to wish you a very happy 90th birthday.”

He then led members of the ACC in three cheers for the Queen.
