Archbishop Fred Hiltz, primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, is scheduled to make a trip to three countries in Africa this month – Egypt, Kenya and Burundi.

From Feb. 1 to 5, Archbishop Hiltz will join other primates for their annual meeting, which will be hosted by the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East in Alexandria, Egypt.

While an agenda for the meeting is still being finalized, among the issues expected to be addressed are the creation of a North American province, the proposed Anglican Covenant, as well as international matters.

In Nairobi, Archbishop Hiltz will attend the Africa Regional Partners’ Roundtable with the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) from Feb. 10 to Feb. 12. The meeting will include representatives from PWRDF, PWRDF partners, as well as some youth members of the Anglican Church of Canada.

The delegation will then visit the diocese of Bujumbura in Burundi from Feb. 12 to 16. The visit will include meetings with the bishop as well as visits to PWRDF-assisted projects, including an HIV-AIDS clinic. PWRDF youth members will remain for another week in Bujumbura where they will meet other Anglican youth in the diocese.
