Two comments:

1) A few sub-heads between paragraphs would have helped break up the text and made it easier to read.

2) It gladdens my heart to see and read in the comments that there are other Christians and/or Anglicans who see clearly the problems facing the ACoC. I've been muttering those things for a while myself. It's good others also recognize the spiritual malaise our beloved church is in.

I think Allan Pearson has some valid points (I am not a KJV-only advocate, but otherwise more or less agree with his sentiments).

One of the issues with the ACoC (and other churches in the Anglican Communion) is that orthodox, trinitarian theology has become so watered down and so much focus placed on non-core topics that many have no real understanding of Christian doctrine and theology. Catechesis is sorely lacking as is any self-identity, or understanding of ourselves, as Anglican Christians.

Social and political activism and all of the topics that seem to dominate the attention of the church's hierarchy can be part of Christian belief and practice. But, they are not the primary or only aspects of the Christian faith. While the church may have been lacking in some of these areas in the past, it is my view that the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction.

Why isn't there anyone asking "Why is it declining so quickly?".
Could it be that no one wants to face the facts that the Anglican Church of Canada, the Episcopal Church (USA), and the Church of England do not have a commitment to God's word and teachings? Those churches float on the winds of public opinion that are not grounded in Faith.

Allan, You were on the right track until the last sentence. It is not the version of the Word that makes the difference, but trust in the authority Word of God and its power to covert and save.
Priests of the Church must first love the God of the Bible. Biblical illiteracy is the crisis of our age.

Einstein once said that doing the same thing and expecting different results is insane. So much of what I am reading about the Anglican Church of Canada sounds to be exactly that. Do more of the same and expect a different result.

My own recommendation is simply this. Get back to being a Faithful Christian Church, one that follows God and His Holy Word, especially when society is going in a different direction.

I once had a conversation with a Priest in which he said the bible was nothing more than a collection of writings by men from thousands of years ago who wrote as best as they understood at that time. This view of the Holy Bible must be expunged from the Church. The Holy Bible is given to us by God and is His Holy Word. The first step to recover of the Anglican Church of Canada is to do this. Bring back the King James / Authorized version Holy Bible and get rid of the NIV and NRSV.
