At what point do immigrants become colonists? The temporary workers' program is a reincarnation of indentured labour. Chinese business and government organizations are reaching a point of economic colonialism equal to any European nations. Canadian resources and industries are controlled by foreign entities that have little or no interest in our communities. So what has changed? Should First Nations be given a say in immigration? Should immigrants pay a tax to first Nations to pay for their use of First Nation's land? Should the government insist that business pays all the cost of recruiting ,accommodating ,and caring for "guest workers"? Should foreign investors, individuals and businesses be forced to provide funding for First Nations and social programs. In short what can be done about the realities of the new colonialism. We talk of de-colonization as it refers to White European economic ,social and political patterns of the past, but we are ignoring the very real problems of the new patterns of colonialism.
