“public relations”? If the church is to be concerned about public relations should ditch the bible and the gospel for they will never put you in good standing with the world ,become another service group like Rotary or Kiwanis who meet on Sundays, the world would applaud you for that. As for homophobia ,I guess the biggest,both figuratively and literally,is God himself. You problem seems to be with God himself and what He wrote.

As for consequences, those concerned about them ought to focus on the disastrous public relations consequences that institutional homophobia is having on churches in Western democracies. The Church of England, which is facing both a demographic crisis and public policy credibility crises on several fronts, is noteworthy in that regard.

Nothing in here about spreading the Gospel and Evangelism! And so many people wonder why these Anglican Churches are in decline. The reason for the decline is obvious to those willing to open their eyes. These Anglican Churches have been high-jacked by want-to-be politicians and have lost their focus on being Christian Churches. They have been abominated into left wing political lobby groups.
People do not go to Church to be indoctrinated into left wing politics. People go to Church to bring themselves closer to God.
