All right thinking people will have been appalled at what happened here. And if you know any Muslims it would be wholly appropriate to follow Bishop Hiltz's exhortation: "encouraging Anglicans to reach out to their Muslim friends and neighbours. 'Give them a call, text them, send them an email. That’s what I did this morning, just to say, ‘I’m so sorry this has happened, I know this must be causing you great distress and sadness and even fear, know that you’re not alone. We’re praying for you, we care for you, and we’re going to stand with you.'

My only problem is that when more than 300 Christians were massacred in Sri Lanka there has been only deafening silence from Fred Hiltz, at least as recorded by the Anglican Journal.

The NZ attack seems to have been the work of a lone wingnut, whereas the Sri Lanka horror was the work of organized Muslim terrorists, possibly Isis.

I have the greatest respect for the Muslim faith and the few Muslims I have known, whose observance of their faith would put many Christians to shame. But our leader, Fred Hiltz, should not be pulling his punches commenting on horror, just because it comes from a source which happens to be Muslim, where he wants to sow ecumenical harmony.
