The Council of General Synod (CoGS) has approved the appointment of Hanna Goschy as the new treasurer and chief financial officer of the Anglican Church of Canada’s General Synod.

Last October, Goschy, then the General Synod controller, was appointed acting treasurer after the resignation of Michèle George.

A search committee for a new treasurer recommended Goschy’s name to the primate, Archbishop Fred Hiltz, who then submitted it to CoGS for concurrence.

CoGS approved her hiring in an email vote, according to an announcement by Archdeacon Michael Thompson, the church’s general secretary.

A certified management accountant, Goschy was previously chief financial officer for YMCA Canada (2000 to 2011). She has also worked as senior accountant for Transamerica Life Canada (1999 to 2000)  and as senior control officer for Manulife Financial (1988 to 1999).

The search committee was headed by Rob Dickson, chair of General Synod’s financial management committee, and includes diocese of British Columbia Bishop James Cowan, Monica Patten, Dan Waterston and Thompson.
