Montreal sells Bishopscourt

Bishopscourt, which had been the official residence of the bishop of Montreal for the last 40 years, has been sold for $1.3 million.

Bishop Barry Clarke said the 10-room brick house was sold to a young couple. The bishop and his wife, Leslie, were scheduled to move to a condominium sometime in May. The diocese said the property, located in Montreal’s historic Square Mile, was expensive to maintain, in need of repairs, and with its many stairs, inaccessible to Mrs. Clarke, who has multiple sclerosis.
