Mission projects

Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR), the delivery arm for development programming and overseas relief for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC), has partnered with Augsburg Fortress Canada, the church’s publishing ministry, to promote two mission projects for children in the developing world. The projects are aimed at keeping street children out of gangs in El Salvador and providing educational opportunities for older children from poor families in Nicaragua. They will be promoted through Augsburg Fortress’ Vacation Bible Schools programs Gospel Express and Treasure Cove, and under the title, Emmanuel House (and Home). “Augsburg Fortress and CLWR believe that kids can make a difference in the world,” ELCIC said in a press statement. It cited that since 2004, Augsburg Fortress Vacation Bible School mission projects have raised more than $350,000 for people in need.
