- Approved a 4.5 per cent increase in pensions to retired and active General Synod pension plan members. The pension committee reported that the market value of the fund as of Dec. 31, 2006 was $651 million and return on investment was 15.7 per cent. The 2006 figure included the transfer of $23 million from the diocese of Montreal’s pension plan and compared with a market value of $565 million as of Dec. 31, 2005.
- Heard that the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund’s HIV/AIDS initiative collected $2.9 million as of the end of 2006.
- Recommended that General Synod approve a merger of the Partners in Mission and Eco-Justice standing committees, a cost-saving measure that joins two groups with similar social justice concerns.
- Approved the document A Charter For Racial Justice in the Anglican Church of Canada, which continues to commit the church to work against racism.
- Empowered the officers of General Synod to continue to negotiate an agreement for Lutheran publisher and retailer Augsburg Fortress Canada to take over the operations of the Anglican Book Centre (see related story).
