The diocese of Central Newfoundland held its first youth synod in May at Mint Brook Camp and Conference Centre. Motions included the creation of a quarterly diocesan youth newsletter, the appointment of a youth delegate to the diocesan synod and a new confirmation program for all parishes. The young people heard presentations on the sacraments and travelled to Gander for a day of swimming and bowling. They also attended an evening service at St. Martin?s Cathedral in Gander. The diocesan newspaper reports that a call for a motion to close synod was met with silence ?as none seemed to want to conclude a positive experience.?
