Diocese sued

A Quebec businessman has filed suit against the Diocese of Quebec, Bishop Bruce Stavert, the Church Society in the diocese, accounting firm Pricewaterhouse-Coopers, and others, claiming financial and managerial irregularities have occurred in the administration of the Church Society. Barry Husk is a church warden at St. George’s parish in Drummondville. The Quebec City law firm of Gagné Letarte has been engaged as the diocese’s legal counsel. The Church Society, founded in 1842, is the oldest missionary society in the Canadian church and disburses funds from parishes and bequests in support of ministry in the diocese.
